2FM122 Quartet Plays Opera
Posted on Feb 06, 2026
2FM122 Quartet Plays Opera takes some of the most famous melodies from the world of opera and distills them into arrangements for string quartet. The album features classics such as “La Donna è Mobile”, “Flower Duet”, “Habanera” and the William Tell Overture, from composers including Verdi, Bizet, Mozart and Rossini among others. Arranged this way, these pieces retain the essential passion, wit and heart-on-sleeve emotion of the originals, but with the intimacy and flexibility of a quartet. These well-loved tunes are arranged by Daryl Griffith, and brought to life with sensitivity and panache by the renowned Tippett Quartet. Pieces have been arranged for varied usage in mind, with 60s, 30s, idents and stings available. All tracks are provided as both a “Concert Mix” and a “Diegetic Mix” - the former being ready to use in adverts and documentaries, and the latter a more dry and untouched version for custom mixing as background music in films and period dramas.
